On July 7, 2015, the Town of Bedford, New York’s Board of Trustees adopted an amendment (“Signage Amendment”) to the Zoning Code imposing new restrictions on certain commercial signage.
The Signage Amendment affects the appearance and dimensions of signs permitted in the Central Business zoning district and requires Planning Board approval for any such signs which are considered freestanding or bracket mounted. Freestanding signs shall not exceed 20 square feet and 4 feet above grade to the top of the sign. In the CB district, signs may only be illuminated from indirect sources.
In all zoning districts “neon-type” and “LED-type” electric signs are prohibited unless they are two square feet and mounted inside a window.
